Dutch website about Canadian Hockey Great Maurice Richard: www.spelten.ca

Picture taken in 2000This website was built as a tribute to the greatest hockey player ever: Maurice "the Rocket" Richard.

The content of this website was gathered from the internet, mostly articles from press agencies and newspapers. Also, I scanned many pictures of the books I bought in Canada. I did my best to make it as complete as I could. Still, a lot of information might be lacking. If there is any information missing on this website, please tell me. I will add it to complete the document.

Placed on the bottom of this page is a link which leads to a section about the attention me and this website got in the media. I am kind of overwhelmed with all the attention the website and I got, and especially with the fact a story about me and the website appeared at La Presse two days in a row. Also, wherever I look, there's always a link to the Maurice Richard website. I even appeared live on CBC Radio twice. In Québec and even nation-wide. Believe me, I never expected that !

This website will continue to exist, as a tribute to the Rocket.

About me:

My name is Marco Spelten, I am 43 years old. I have a son, CJ (Carl Joël) who was born 9-9-'99. He has a Canadiens-jersey with number 9. Our Rocket, he is... I also have a daugther Jenna, 6-4-'02.

Me and my kids are Dutch, and we live in Houten, a small village in the middle of the Netherlands. We live about 45 km south from Amsterdam, close to the city of Utrecht.

One of my biggest hobbies is hockey. I love to go to Canada, and once every couple of years I do. Then I love to visit games at the Bell Centre. So far, I saw over 35.

I created a Montreal Canadiens website in 1996, "The Dutch Montreal Canadiens Hockeysite". It was mentioned in the Canadiens Magazine of January, 2000, page 60. The site was closed at the end of season 1999-2000.
